Description
Immunisation programmes are one of our most successful public health measures. Ensuring public and professional confidence is critical to the success of these programmes. As the incidence of infectious diseases declines, it is important that professionals are able to explain why vaccinations are still needed.
In a climate where vaccine controversies are frequent and public confidence in vaccines may waver, immunisers need to be confident, knowledgeable and up to date.
This training programme addresses the key areas that need to be covered and are outlined in the Health Protection Agency’s document on National Minimum Standards for Immunisation Training.
The training will be delivered using PowerPoint, Video, Group discussion/quiz.
This course is NOT suitable for HCAs. The introductory HCA course is Injection Technique & Immunisation Training.

Trainer
Mrs Linda Petch RN, RM, Cert Ed. Ba(Hons)
Linda has worked within the NHS for over 35 years in a variety of roles. Firstly, as a nurse in secondary care, then community midwife within an inner-city area of Nottingham, Practice Nurse for over 14 years in the same area of Nottingham. She then moved to Rushcliffe as a lead for a coronary heart programme and worked with the PN professional leads to form a local PN forum. Following that she worked as a clinical trainer within 2 community organisations for 9 years before leaving at the end of December 2015 to form her own training company. Her passion is in the delivery of quality training & supporting colleagues in their personal development.
Dr Vanessa MacGregor
Vanessa MacGregor is a Medical Doctor working as a Consultant in Communicable Disease Control with Public Health England based at the East Midlands Public Health England Centre in Nottingham. Her main interests are Vaccine Preventable Diseases, Travel Health, Immunisation and Tuberculosis.
