The role of the Caldicott Guardian is currently evolving to meet the challenge of implementing "Information to Share and Not to Share" - the Information Governance Review (Caldicott 2 published 2013) across the Health and Social Care system.There is also a need to deliver the recommendations of the Review of Data Security, Consent and opt Outs (published 2016). Further guidance is expected to be published later in the year about the role of Caldicott Guardians.
This half day course is aimed at Senior Management who need to understand their role and responsibilities as their organisation's Caldicott Guardian.

This is so that the organisation's Caldicott Guardian is able to understand their responsibilities and what they need to do in their own organisation, and the Practice Manager will be able to support the Caldicott Guardian and will usually be the first point of contact for any queries or issues that occur.
It is mandatory that all Caldicott Guardians attend an annual update training session to remain compliant with your DS & P Toolkit.

Paul Couldrey is the former Head of Information Governance for NHS Central Midlands Commissioning Support Unit, which supported 10 CCGs. Paul has been involved in IG since 1991 whilst working for the West Midlands Police as a compliance officer and has managed IG at a senior level in law enforcement, local authorities and the NHS. Paul is qualified in information law at Post Graduate level, and has spoken at numerous national conferences in regards to Governance. He was also the Black Country contributor to the Latest Caldicott Review (Caldicott 2) published in June 2013.
